Week of Jul 6
Import your content from LinkedIn, X, and Medium
Bring writing you've published elsewhere into Pay It Forward. Upload your LinkedIn data archive to import published articles, paste an X/Twitter thread, or paste a Medium article URL — each imports as a draft you review and publish. Plus one-tap share buttons on articles and events.
Two-factor auth, social sharing & OAuth, QR profiles
Secure your account with TOTP 2FA and backup codes, share acts/chains/impact across LinkedIn, X, WhatsApp and more, sign in with X/Apple/Facebook, show a profile QR code at events, and link your socials. Plus AI content moderation and a database health/regression guard.
Resilient pages + automatic additive schema sync
The jobs, messages, and profile/network sections now degrade gracefully when the live database is behind the schema instead of erroring, and production deploys automatically apply additive schema changes (new tables/columns) even when unrelated destructive drift is present.
LinkedIn import steps match current LinkedIn UI
The /import instructions now reflect LinkedIn's current export flow — LinkedIn removed the per-file 'Connections' checkbox, so Step 2 requests the larger data archive (which includes connections), Step 3 sets the right expectation on timing (often 10-30 min, up to 24h), and Step 4 clarifies that only Connections.csv is read from the archive.
Referral-first job board + platform navigation
New referral-first Jobs marketplace (every role has a real person who can refer you, verified referral-to-hire tracking, AI application drafting, and no ghost jobs), structured work history & education on profiles, a 3-tab My Network page with connection-strength signals, a categorized notifications inbox, a Me profile menu, and a grouped, collapsible platform navigation.
Updated LinkedIn import instructions
The /import steps now match LinkedIn's current UI (Settings → Data privacy → Download your data), and a new "Open LinkedIn data settings" button links straight to the download page so you don't have to navigate there.
Automatic database sync on deploy
Production deploys now run prisma db push before the build, so additive schema changes (new tables and columns) are applied before the app queries them — fixing the 'Something went wrong' 500s on pages like /compose and /messages. Destructive changes are intentionally left for manual review.
YouTube thumbnails fix
Allowed YouTube hosts in the connect-src CSP directive so video-library thumbnails and the embed player load without console errors.
Database resilience
Pages now degrade gracefully instead of crashing when the database is briefly behind a schema change, and an admin view lists any missing tables/columns with the SQL to fix them.
Full data export
Export everything as a ZIP: profile, acts, chains, impact breakdown, badges, message history, and your Ripple Resume PDF. Your data is yours.
Transparent feed
Every feed item now shows why you're seeing it — From your chain, Trending, or Community — with a 'Show me why' toggle and sort options (relevant, recent, impact).
Anonymous help mode
Log an act anonymously — the recipient sees 'Someone helped you', your identity stays hidden across the feed, notifications, and emails, and your Impact Score still grows.
Skills verified by actions
Skills are now verified by real acts and outcomes ('Mentoring — verified by 5 acts, 2 outcomes') instead of self-reported endorsements.
Ripple Resume
Download a proof-of-impact PDF: referrals given, outcomes they led to, top chains, skills verified by actions, and testimonials — with a QR code to your live profile. On LinkedIn you list what you did; here we show what happened because of you.
Trust Score
A 0–100 trust score earned through confirmed acts, verified outcomes, and a complete, verified profile. Shows as a shield on profiles and discover cards, with a Trusted badge above 80.
Warm introductions
Reach people through a mutual connection who vouches for you — AI drafts the note, the introducer approves, and a successful intro is logged as a chain act. No cold outreach.
Landing page redesign — professional impact platform
Reframed the marketing homepage as a full professional impact platform with a bento-grid feature showcase, a 'vs LinkedIn' comparison, audience segments, outcome stats, a Platform nav dropdown, and a sticky CTA.
Professional profiles & AI-powered discovery
Profiles now capture your headline, skills, goals, availability, and how you can help or be helped. The redesigned Discover page uses AI to match you with people across four lenses — help someone, get help, collaborate, or find mentorship — with a double opt-in connect flow so every introduction is welcome. New public profile pages (payitfwd.app/profile/[id]) are shareable on LinkedIn, and a quick 3-step onboarding gets new members matchable from day one.
Login fix: sign-in resilient to un-migrated database columns
Sign-in (and signup) could fail with a 500 when the live database was missing newer User columns that the Prisma schema had added — the auth queries selected every column, so Postgres rejected them with "column does not exist." The credentials login, OAuth sign-in, JWT, and signup-existence lookups now select only the long-stable columns they actually need, so authentication keeps working even before a schema migration has been applied. Pairs with scripts/full-database-sync.sql, which fully reconciles the database.
Login fix: full database sync for all missing tables & columns
Login and other pages could 500 when the live database was missing tables and columns that recent releases added to the Prisma schema (groups, learning paths, LinkedIn migration, messaging/articles/events/orgs/polls, and new User/Act/Challenge columns). Added scripts/full-database-sync.sql — a single idempotent, re-runnable script covering every table, column, index, and foreign key in the schema (62 tables, 481 column guards, 147 indexes, 71 FKs) — that reconciles any drifted or fresh database back in line with the schema.
Private groups for communities
Communities like the MCMC Tech Forum can now have their own private space — with a members-only feed, a group leaderboard (top helpers, longest chains, rising stars), group challenges, impact stats, a member directory, and invite links (payitfwd.app/join/group/[code]).
Community feed with success stories
The home feed is now a relevance-ranked community hub: success-story cards from verified outcomes, chain-milestone celebrations, badge shout-outs, and new-member welcomes, plus an expanded emoji reaction set, LinkedIn sharing, and content filters.
AI-powered learning paths
Set a career goal like "Switch to product management" and Claude builds a personalized, step-by-step learning path from real connections — connect with people, learn from community ripples, request an intro, attend an event, mentor someone. No pre-recorded courses: every step is an action taken through the platform with real people, and progress is tracked by real actions, not video completion. Lives at /learn with a progress bar, per-step check-off, and "generate new path" / "adjust path" controls; your progress and next step also surface in the weekly digest.
LinkedIn migration: import, cross-post, referral board & network health
Bring your LinkedIn network to PIF: upload your connections CSV to see who you should thank and who to invite, cross-post achievements to LinkedIn (link-free for max reach), compose and schedule posts with AI assist, and download a LinkedIn Impact Score badge and banner. A new referral board replaces ghost jobs with verified track records, 'Open to Help' replaces 'Open to Work', and a network-health dashboard plus a 'LinkedIn vs your real impact' page show what LinkedIn can't.
LinkedIn-equivalent social suite
Trust-first direct messaging with AI smart replies, articles & publishing with AI assist, events with RSVP and post-event insights, company pages with impact dashboards, AI-powered advanced search, quick posts & polls, enhanced notification preferences, and a professional impact timeline — all tied back to chains and Impact Score.
Verification badges, activation nurture & versioned API
Acts now show a verification status (pending, verified, or under review) across the feed, backed by a new anti-gaming trust story on the landing page and FAQ. A day-3/day-7 activation nurture email loop keeps new chains growing, the public API is now versioned under /api/v1 with API-key auth, and feature flags let us toggle surfaces per environment.
Week of Jun 29
Community & events page
A new public /community page showcases where Pay It Forward has presented, lets organizations book a Lunch & Learn, Conference Talk, or Community Challenge, and connects attendees to their exclusive event gifts.
Event gift downloads
Branded Pay It Forward Zoom backgrounds can now be shared with event attendees at /gifts/[event] — preview, download individually or as a ZIP, with a lightbox and how-to guide.
Login fix: sync User table with schema
Login could fail with a "Something went wrong" error when the live database was missing User columns that exist in the Prisma schema (email verification, password reset, and gamification streak/invite/leaderboard fields). Added scripts/fix-user-table.sql — a single idempotent ALTER TABLE that adds every User column with ADD COLUMN IF NOT EXISTS, plus the matching unique constraints, indexes, and self-FK — to reconcile any drifted environment.
Gamification: streaks, badges & leaderboard
Introduced a full gamification system — daily streaks, 14 unlockable badges, milestone celebrations with confetti, a community leaderboard (top helpers, longest chains, rising stars), invite rewards, community challenges, LinkedIn share prompts, a gamified weekly digest, and lifecycle push nudges.
Admin analytics survives missing PresentationView columns
The admin analytics presentation section now shows a clear "run database migration" notice when the PresentationView table or its columns are out of sync with the schema, instead of crashing the whole page. Added scripts/sync-presentation-view.sql (printed during build) to reconcile the table.
Vercel Speed Insights
Real-user performance monitoring (Core Web Vitals) is now collected across the app to help us keep pages fast.
Admin analytics resilient to unapplied migrations
The /admin/analytics dashboard no longer crashes with "Something went wrong" when a recently added table (community ideas or presentation views) is missing from the database. Each query now degrades to zeros/empty and logs the failure, and scripts/sync-database.sql can bring a database back in sync.
Social media links across the app
Added LinkedIn, YouTube, and Product Hunt links to the footer, landing page, story and teams pages, email footers, and Organization structured data — plus one-click Share on LinkedIn buttons for chains and impact reports.

The app now supports 5 languages: English, Arabic, Urdu, Spanish, and French with full RTL support.
